Belfast, traslated as "The sandy ford at the river mouth” is the largest city and capital of Northern Island. To the north west of the city lies huge hills including ‘Cave Hill’ which Jonathan Swift, the author of Gulliver’s Travels, thought resembled the shape of a collosall sleeping giant, who protected the city with his strenght and size. One could say that Belfast is a very enchanting place that conjours up such feelings amongst it’s residence and also those who come to visit. As well as the breathtaking lanscape that stretches for miles with deep green fields and blue waters, Belfast has become a gateway to the rest of Northern island allowing tourism to flow through. In the centre of the city the contrast of the Victorian architecture mixed in with heavily garfitted walls highlights the butality and more recently the peace that Belfast has experienced throughout the years. With this enthusiastic approach to a new Belfast, the city has thrown itself into creative frenzy, opening new bars, restaurants and entertainment venues, so the streets have become alive with things to do and see. Belfast is a city that holds hope and achievement and a trip here will most definitley not dissapoint.
