In an attempt to get women drinking more beer, brewing giant Molson Coors is to introduce a low-calorie beer in August.
The currently unnamed beer, which will be clear and sold in bottles, is also described as being ‘spike-proof’ as a survey carried out by the company found many women are worried about their drinks being spiked by date rape drugs.
“Women have more taste receptors and are more receptive to bitter flavours, so there is an opportunity to launch a more challenging beer for women,” said survey spokeswoman Kristy McCready.
“The research indicated it was a myth that women want light fruity beers, which made us sit up and rethink our approach.”
So will this encourage you to order a round of beers on your hen party, or does a bottle of wine or a fancy colourful cocktail still sound much more appealing?
