For sheer breadth of things to do and things to see, Edinburgh and London surely top the Hen Heaven charts and are two destinations that we can recommend without reservation. World-renowned travel publication Conde Naste published the results of their readers survey which found that London just out-pipped Edinburgh for visitor satisfaction, so we thought, what better time to compare the two? So which is it, the hen weekend Edinburgh, or the hen weekend London style that comes out on top.
London is a city that requires little introduction but… we’ll give you one anyway. The capital of England and here’s one for fact fans: if London was a country in itself, it would be the 8th biggest in Europe. Woof. The sheer scale of the city mean it’s little suprise that there is an embarrasment of riches when it comes to London hen weekend packages. Our favourite has to be the London 5 star luxury package which sees you and your girls heading to a swank-tastic 5 star hotel in the centre of London with full access to the hotel’s incredible spa and leisure facilities. Good, eh? London has so many different areas, all offering something different, so it’s just a case of matching up your hen party to the district – Indie Sindy’s head for Shoreditch or Camden, those seeking something more up market head for West London, easy.
Sarah Miller, editor of Conde Nast Traveller said of Edinburgh,
“Edinburgh unsurprisingly came out on top for culture. Anyone who has experienced the National Galleries of Scotland or the Edinburgh Festival will understand why readers rate this city so highly.”
“Edinburgh is famed for its arts and culture, and as another successful festivals programme draws to a close, it is tremendous to see that the city has been named as Britain’s favourite cultural destination,”
Edinburgh might have missed out to London for the title of most satisfactory destination, but it did come out on top when it came to culture. Culture vultures are well-served in Edinburgh with some of the best galleries and museums in the UK, as well as its enviable position of being the hub of British comedy. Mix it with the lads in the traditional pubs of Grassmarket and Old Town or hit the sleek, modern clubs of Cowgate or the upmarket bars of George Street, there’s something for everyone in the Scottish capital on an Edinburgh hen weekend.
So there you have it, a choice to be made, a quandary, a pickle. We’ll sit on the fence with this one and leave you to decide. Either way you’ll be heading to an incredible destination for a hen weekend to remember.
