Travel Advice
Making sure everyone has a good time during the hen party is important. However making sure everyone is safe during that hen party is equally as important. So to help keep our customer safe and informed about the dangers of travel, we've teamed up with the UK Foreign Office (a recognised government body) to support their "Know Before You Go campaign" (KBYG).
To find out more safety information about the destination your visiting or more about the KBYG campaign, please click here.
Also (because we're nice like that) we've typed up a useful check list below of things you should do before and during your travels...
Before travelling
- Don't leave without getting travel insurance and make sure that it insures you for any activities you may be doing while abroad such as extreme sports or water sports.
- If you're travelling to the EU then get yourself a FREE European Health Insurance Card. Please keep in mind though that you will still need insurance as this card does not cover you. It merely reduces the cost of emergency care in the EU.
- 112 is the EU emergency services number.
- Ensure you have the correct visa's and/or passes for the country you are visiting and check that your passport is still in date. For certain countries your passport must be valid for 6 months after the date you travel - check the entry requirements before you go.
- Visit your doctor to make sure that you have all the medicines and/or vaccinations that you need before you travel.
- Make sure you know the location of the UK embassy is in the country you visiting.
- Photocopy your passport and take it with you as well as the original. It's a good idea in case of an emergency situation. Keep both safe.
- Inform a trusted family member and/or friends where you will be staying and for how long, as well as give them a copy of your passport and insurance details. Also give them a number so they can reach you.
- If you plan to drive abroad. Take an up-to-date licence card and be aware of the driving laws in the country you plan to visit.
- Take some back up cash in case of emergencies.
- Check customs before travelling, as certain things may not be permitted to enter or leave certain EU countries.
- Research what the laws are for the country you are visiting.
- Check with your mobile service provider to make sure your phone works abroad.
- Take your mobile phone with you and your charger in case you need to call home. Save local emergency numbers and the UK embassy number in your phone.
During your travels
- Do not leave valuables on display. Not even in your hotel/apartment/hostel. Keep them locked away in a safe or take a padlocked suitcase or bag with you.
- Research whether the tap water is safe to drink. If not then stick to bottled water only.
- Respect local law, traditions and customs, as this is the best way to get the locals to be kind and understanding towards you and yours.
- Be respectful when taking photos and video. Some of the locals may not appreciate it or they make take it the wrong way. Especially the military or police.
- Write down some important phrases in the language and take them with you wherever you go. Do this in case you need help and cannot speak to local language.
- Keep your personal belongings with you at all times.
- If you need to take regular medication, then make sure you carry it with you at all times. Such as allergy tablets, inhalers etc.
- Respect the environment and don't purchase illegal souvenirs that may hurt the local environment such as endangered animal pelts, jewellery made from animal bones etc.
- Check import regulations for food and plants before you attempt to bring them back to the UK.
