Picking your wedding dress can be a difficult task, you may have an idea of what your perfect dress will look like but does your style of gown fit in with this seasons trends?

Here at Hen Heaven we like to be on hand to offer help and advice on all aspects of wedding and hen weekend planning, so following the bridal fashion week in New York earlier this month, here is our Autumn Winter 2013 Bridalwear Trend Report:

The Colour of The Season

Following the injection of colour to last season’s bridalwear collections, this season welcomes the return of traditional white, Vera Wangs dresses played homage to the colour white with a variety of styles ranging from beautiful princess inspired dresses to subtle elegant designs.

Wang declared her collection as a "study in femininity and romance [that] celebrates the wedding gown in a new take on classicism and ornamentation".

The Key Looks of The Season

Fairy tale Princess: Romantic princess dresses with corsets and full dramatic flowing ball gowns were featured consistently confirming that the bigger princess wedding dresses are in fact back.

Designers: Betsey Johnson, Zac Posen

Embellished Ladylike: Gorgeous sleek column silhouettes also graced the catwalk- demonstrating a contrast look to the princess style. Dresses with all over beading and Indian inspired embellishments were key. Reem Acra designs included beaded flapper styles, whilst Jenny Packhams designs took inspiration from the golden age of Art Deco.

Designers: Jenny Packham, Reem Acra, Marchesa

Sleeves: Billowing boho styled sleeves, classic sleeves and shorter angel sleeves were embraced, taking inspiration from the Duchess Kate’s elegant wedding gown.

Designers: Temperley, Oscar De la Renta

Illusion Necklines: illusion necklines are a key trend for 2013, silhouettes have the feel of a strapless dress but added lace provides a sophisticated twist. Designers also added this style to the back of dresses with dramatic draped detailing.

Designers: Marchesa, Vera Wang

Bold Headwear: This season bold headwear made an appearance replacing the vintage veil. Statement head dresses with beautiful flowers, pleated modern veils and lace oversized headbands all a refreshing alternative to the traditional veil.

Designers: Claire Pettibones, Reem Acra
