Categories: Wedding Advice For Women

During the big day the main outfit anybody is going to be looking at it the wedding dress and for good reason to. It’s the bride’s special dress, the Va-Va-Voom dress, the dress she’s going to cherish and undoubtedly remember for the rest of her life.  However, the big day wouldn’t be complete without the lovely supporting ladies behind the scenes. The ones who help the bride go to the bathroom (wearing her dress and all.) The ones who make sure that nobody comes within 5 metres of the bride drunkenly holding a glass of red wine, and the ones who have seen you have a mental breakdown over seating plans. We all know who they are – the bridesmaids.

They deserve the spotlight too don’t they? Of course they do! So if you’re a bride looking for some ideas or a bridesmaid who desperately doesn't want to wear a horrific fluffy peach number then we present to you this article filled with bridesmaids dress ideas!

Asymmetric dresses

The neckline du jour in the wedding industry, the asymmetric neckline creates a sweeping shape that flatters and elongates most body shapes and frames. It also adds a little bit of sexy without actually showing any cleavage, so if you’re planning to have a modern wedding that’ll really show off your bridesmaid in a sophisticated way then this is the look to go for.

Two tone dresses

I’m not talking ombre here which is a different thing altogether, I’m talking about dresses where the top and bottom part are different colours. Normally the colours are complimentary but you can get dresses that have clashing colours if you want to be more contemporary.

Mismatched dresses

Probably the most modern option out of all the trends so far, this is pretty much as it sounds – all your bridesmaids wear different colour dresses and different styles. This can range from subtle to more extreme. If you want, you can dictate the colour palette and have each bridesmaid buy her own dress based on your colour choices. Or you can leave the colour choice completely up to them if you’re feeling generous and brave! Either way, when this is done right it’s very chic and will make your bridesmaids feels more individual. A great option if there are ladies in your group who have very different styles from one another.

Colour Clashing Shoes

Red dresses, blue shoes. Yellow dresses, green shoes. The general idea is to choose a colour on the other end of the spectrum to your dresses. This creates an eye catching combination that draws attention both to the dress and shoes. Whether you choose to get everybody identical shoe or different shoes in the same colour is entirely up to you as I have seen photos of people getting both looks spot on!
