Do's & Dont's for the Fashion Forward Bride

Do's & Dont's for the Fashion Forward Bride

Categories: Wedding Advice For Women

It didn’t seem that long ago he popped that dazzling ring on your finger, and you’ve been flicking through the pages of bridal magazines and scouring the internet to research the hottest wedding fashion and bridal hair styles ever since. After all, it’s going to be the best day of your life, and you just have to stand out and look your absolute best. There’s going to be copious amounts of photos and videos appearing on Facebook, so therefore it’s completely necessary to show everyone what a stylish bride you’ll be (and give those other Facebook brides a run for their money obviously.)

Follow our do's & dont's for the fashion forward bride and ensure you walk down that aisle in style!

Do

Consider catwalk influences: the 1960s bridal vibe is hot off the catwalk for spring 2016, and has showcased some truly gorgeous dresses and styles. Expect deep plunging necklines, bold 3D floral laser cut applique and quirky feather embellishments – there’s something for everyone with these 60s inspired statement looks

Don’t

Fake tan the night before: if you want to bear a glowing tan for your wedding day then do not, we repeat, do not apply fake tan the night before your wedding. The patchy, orange look is an absolute no no, and there’ll be no time to rectify it on the morning of your big day if all hell breaks loose. It’s advisable to apply the tan several days in advance so there’s time for the first layer to wash off and so that any mishaps can be fixed

Do

Choose Lip colour: choose an eye-catching and vibrant lip colour to really set off your wedding dress. If you’re not a fan of lipstick, why not opt for a tinted lip balm to give your lips just a glimmer of colour and shine?

Don’t

Be afraid to experiment with accessories: add some dainty accessories to your tresses for your big day. What about an intricate chignon adorned with a bow, or how about scattering some butterfly or petal style clips in your hair?  Maybe you just want to keep things simple, if so a headband is an effortless look which doesn’t compromise on style!

Do

Use social media: in addition to bridal magazines and blogs, social media is a great way to keep up with the current bridal fashion trends and gain inspiration for your wedding. Pinterest is perfect for discovering the latest looks from the most stylish to the downright quirky. Plus, you can keep all of your ideas safely pinned to your Pinterest board. Instagram is also an ideal platform for researching style photos for your big day - you’re going to be such a #stylishbride

Don’t

Wash your hair on the big day: perhaps you’ve hired a hair stylist for the wedding, or maybe you’ve decided to showcase your own hair design talents. Either way, it’s definitely a good idea to wash your hair the night before the wedding and avoid using products. This will ensure that your hair is a lot easier to work with in the morning. Hair that is too silky is often difficult to style, and will give you grief when trying to achieve that Grecian inspired updo!

Do

Give vintage accessories a whirl: fancy something a bit different jewellery wise? Why not check out your nearest retro store and search for some vintage jewellery? A pearl necklace or bracelet is a classic look which will withstand the test of time, or how about an antique broche to complete your look?

Don’t

Be scared to be quirky: teaming a contrasting a pair of bright and colourful shoes under your wedding dress is the ideal way to demonstrate your standout style and makes for some cute photographs too!

Do

Be rebellious: break tradition and sport a coloured wedding dress instead of the classic white number.  We’re not saying rock up in a garish bright green dress, but how about something a bit more subtle with a flash of ‘barely there’ colour, such as soft pink or other blush shades

Don’t

Wear a dress which doesn’t flatter your body type: probably the most important rule to follow; always choose a dress which flatters your body type. As much the fashionista you are, if you’re drowning in the latest trends but don’t feel comfortable in the dresses you’re trying on then why not choose something a little plainer? You can still incorporate accessories into your look, and you’ll still be able to achieve that stand out bridal style!
