Guide To Newcastle

Categories: Hen Party Advice

As I first timer in Newcastle I had heard all the rumours: Easy to get around, great restaurants and even better night life. I wanted to know if the city could live up to its reputation...and oh does it deliver.

The key to a great weekend away is having a good base. Whither it’s a hotel, a hostel or an apartment you want it to be somewhere you can chill out (when you get the chance) and somewhere to glam up when the time comes. You want close by, you want comfortable and Newcastle can offer all of the above. Book your stay at the Village Hotel for an all round amazing experience. With a stylish and comfortable room to prep for your nights out, a bar and restaurant to get those nights started and leisure facilities to relax you the morning after. It’s everything you need in one place, and just 15 minutes away from the city centre.

Getting Hungry

At some point along the way you’re bound to get peckish, and if you fancy venturing out from your hotel you are spoiled for choice. With grab and go style cafes all around and classics like Pizza Express, Jamie’s Italian and TGI Fridays you can revisit one of your old favourites. Or if you fancy trying something new check out Las Iguanas! With two restaurants in the city you can have your pick of deliciously authentic Tapas or dishes from Peru and beyond and top it all off with 2 for 1 cocktails (that can pretty much qualify as one of your five a day).

Speaking of cocktails why not learn how to make some of your own? With delicious cocktail making classes available in bars like Florita’s, House of Smith and Madame Koo’s that swiftly turn around into an all out event after 10pm. These always feature highly in lists of things to do before you die. You’ll have various bars and dance floors at your disposal through the three joining clubs so you won’t need to go far for a good time.

Shopping Time

Maybe shopping has brought you to this big-little city? If so, prepare to treat yourself! With massive indoor shopping centres filled with all your high street favourites and upscale department stores like House of Fraser and John Lewis catering to all your Brand needs, you may need someone to help with your bags. Or why not pick up some little nick nacks from Grainger Market? With quirky stalls and shops you’ll find souvenirs that really are one of a kind.

Or if your wardrobes are already full throw on a pair of those comfortable heels and head out to take in the beauty of the city from every angle. Landmarks like the Angel of the North just a short bus ride away, and others (Grey Street Monument, Theatre Royal and The Quayside) are within walking distance. Why not make a whole afternoon of it? Download the ‘Mobile Adventures’ App and race against the other team to visit as many landmarks and hot spots as you can fulfilling tasks along the way. Losing team buys the cocktails...I’d definitely recommend a 2 for 1 on that occasion.

However you decide to spend it, a Newcastle hen party is 100% one to remember!
