Hen Heaven Hit Marbella

Hen Heaven Hit Marbella

So as you can imagine when I was selected as one of the ‘chosen ones’ to go on a party weekend to Marbella with the fellow hen and stag experts from work- I was extremely excited, this was for a number of reasons No 1- I have never been to Marbs No 2-the hen heaven boss otherwise known as ‘The Party King’ has been known to throw a good soiree and previous work trips have been described as Epic No 3- the weather forecast for the weekend was expected highs of 30 degrees with lots of sunshine and extremely enticing following the run of bad British weather.  After all the recent hype and press about Marbella I was glad I was getting the opportunity to see what all the fuss was about and whether ‘the only way is marbs’ or not.

The weekend began last Friday morning when my alarm went off at 5am, I jumped out of bed whilst the rain hammered down outside, knowing that I would soon be sunning it in  Marbs, the early start didn’t seem to be too bad after all.  The Hen Heaven/ Stag Co team met at the airport and we were soon on our way to Malaga.

We landed by lunchtime but was held up slightly, one of the Hen Heaven crew had lost a suit case- must have been the excitement of the trip and poor Alisha had left her case outside the toilets.  So myself and Alisha spent the first half hour running up and down the airport looking for the Lost and Found. We eventually located it in the nick of time just as her suitcase was being inspected by the airport staff- we arrived as a sexy Spanish man was holding up Alisha’s underwear for all to see, we explained the situation and myself and a red faced Alisha ran to find the others.

We were met at the airport by Jose our rep who accompanied us on our transfer, he told us that the first port of call for our trip was to visit some of the amazing hotels and apartments we have on offer to customers, the apartments were lovely, very spacious and in some fab central locations- ideal for hen and stag groups.  We particularly liked the look of the spa hotel which the girls were pleased to hear we would be paying a visit to on the Saturday- it’s a hard job but someone has got to do it!

We then made our way to the Parque Plaza Suites at Puerto Banus where we were staying, the girls were in one large apartment and the boys in another- they were lovely, they over looked a gorgeous beach and were moments away from the luxurious Puerto Banus marina- a perfect location.

After unpacking and settling into our abodes for the weekend we decided that it would be good to take in the sights of Puerto Banus- sights being expensive yachts, stylish sports cars and designer boutiques, it certainly lived up to its reputation of being a playground to the rich and famous.  We enjoyed a fun afternoon sitting on the harbour eating and drinking and enjoying the views, we found the view of a guy who was celebrating his 30th particularly entertaining it took him half an hour just to make it 5 metres up the road- he had obviously over indulged in a few too many San Miguels.

Friday night began at The La Sala restaurant where we dined with a 2 course meal and champagne, we were sat in a private area with open roof- which was lovely and enjoyed the live music, we then hit  the Aqua Mist nightclub here we all partied till the early hours, we especially liked the electronic violinist who accompanied the dj with his lit up bow, the shapes  ‘the party king’ was throwing on the dance floor and the calibre of limbo participants in the limbo comp that we had decided to start. A few continued the party on the beach and thought it would be a good idea to go swimming in the sea at 4 am in the morning, not the most sensible thing to do and not something I would recommend.

There were a lot of sore heads the next day and as the boys headed to the go-karting track, the  girls opted for the more relaxing of the activities and went to the spa.  Bliss, I could get used to this! After lounging by the pool and sampling the treatments we went back to Puerta Banus to meet the boys and see how their more hectic afternoon had been, quite the contrast to ours, it  involved Aiden one of the stag co boys being sick out of  a taxi window- maybe the combination of alcohol the night before followed by speeds of 48 miles an hour on the racing track that didn't agree with him?  Oh dear.

We had a great evening planned for the Sat night- the Party King had organised for a cocktail class and meal at the American Diner Route 66 followed by a bar crawl- brilliant.

The meal was great and the outdoor cocktail class was so much fun, we learnt how to make Mojitos, Daiquiris, B52’s and competed for the title of the best cocktail maker- Keith the head of marketing got quite competitive and decided that he had won the title- we decided to humour him and go with it.  Poor Aiden was a no show for the meal and class as was  still recovering from the night before and his day of adrenalin sports- there's always one.

Around midnight we all headed to Linekars for the closing party whilst taking a de tour to collect Aiden, there was no way he was going to miss his last night in Marbs.  Linekars was great fun we met lots of hen and stag groups and partied until it closed- whoops an early pick up for the airport meant that we all had little sleep and a painful flight back to the UK.

This was my first trip to Marbs and it definitely didn’t disappoint, I loved that in a matter of a few hours I was able to experience  a weekend of sunshine, fun, top food and drink, great bars and clubs and great company.  The Party King certainly knew how to host a party and I will definitely be booking to go back with friends next year.

My advice to anyone considering a Marbella hen weekend and might be put off by the expense- don’t be, Hen Heaven offer affordable top class accommodation and activities that suit all budgets.
