Hottest Hen Party destination of the week: Budapest

Categories: Hen Party Advice

Üdvözöljük Budapesten or as we would like to say, Welcome to Budapest. As the largest city of Hungary, Budapest offers a great experience to everybody. Whether you want to relax and visit museums, drink good coffee and eat delicious pastries, walk around the city or party hard, the capital city has it all. We chose Budapest as our hen destination of the week, because spring has arrived and it is a popular destination for hen parties and girls weekend away.

Relax and Pamper

The Széchenyi Termal Baths are a worldwide known Hungarian attraction. It is one of Europe's largest spa bath which is well watched by keen tourists. It is the perfect pampering activity for a hens weekend away. Besides getting soaked in the natural spring waters, you can also choose between the different types of pools, indoors and outdoors. We offer entrance to the baths, so be sure to include this on your hen do weekend away bucket list.

Get cultured

Budapest city centre is a fantastic source of history and art. Any part of the city you may find yourself in, there will no doubt be a beautiful cathedral, an important museum, statues of their historical figures and many more. The parliament building is one of the oldest legislative and most beautiful buildings in Europe, it is a must see. You can either walk around it and admire its architecture or you can actually purchase a visitor ticket and take an inside tour (check online for visiting hours and ticket prices). There are soldiers all around the building, dressed in their uniform, sometimes doing marches. The building is absolutely huge with over 690 rooms, but nonetheless, stunning.

Within walking distance of the parliament building, you will find St. Stephen’s Basilica, one of the country’s highest buildings. You will need to make a small donation to go inside, but it’s totally worth it. If you want to explore more panoramic views and fewer buildings, take a peaceful walk on the Danube Banks, where you will see the six famous bridges of the city which separate Buda from Pest, the old and the new part parts of the city. You will also be able to see the famous Shoes on the Danube Bank (located just across the street from the parliament building), which is a memorial for the Jewish people who were killed by a fascist movement during WWII.

Andrassy Avenue is like the Fifth Avenue of Budapest. Here you will find lots of great cafes and restaurants with pretty terraces and those oh so European table cloths. You will also be able to shop till you drop and walk through one of the most beautiful boulevards in the city. The Hungarian people are very into their fashion, so you will definitely see some great street style here.

Food and drink

Hungarian people, like many other European people love their food and they like to eat. Soups are a favourite dish amongst people in Hungary, so be prepared to taste some delicious ones. Almost every restaurant will serve soup so give it a go.  Meat is also very popular so you will have the opportunity to try new dishes with different meats, homemade sausages which are amazing; most restaurants will also cater for vegetarian people so nobody goes hungry in this city. There is a big coffee shop type culture here, so you will see many people sitting outside at cute cafes, drinking coffee and socializing. Pastries are amazing here, like the famous Dobos, so be sure to add some cake to that coffee. If you are brave enough, you can even try their traditional drink, the famous palinka, which is over 40 percent of alcohol and it is made out of fruits, mainly plums and apples. Traditionally, people here have a shot before eating as a digestive aid, but trust us, that stuff is strong!

Cocktail making and wine tasting are two very popular and fun activities with hen parties in Budapest. You will learn how to make delicious cocktails followed by drinking them, together with your gals to celebrate such an exciting event. If you are more keen to explore the wines Budapest has to offer, you can opt for the wine tasting experience, where you will get to taste some of the most delicious ones the country has to offer. Of course wine tasting is never complete without an appetizing cheese platter, so you get to also nibble on some Hungarian cheese goodness.

Nightlife

If you want to party hard, Budapest is the right place for it. The nightclubs are open very late, some don't even have time restrictions, so you can really dance the night away. Hungarian people are friendly and welcoming, so get ready to make some new friends. Whether you dance the night away, or have an intimate gathering with your friends in a pub, we are certain that you will enjoy yourself. As part of your hen do package, you can take the bar crawl around the ruin pubs, a famous Budapest activity. We can help you organize all of that.
