How To Plan A Vintage Themed Hen Do

Categories: Hen Party Advice

Old is the new “in thing” and has been for a while now. So if you take more inspiration from Mad Men than you do from Made in Chelsea then rejoice because you’re not alone! From the fashion to the decorations, there are plenty of ways to make your hen party “retro fabulous” (sorry about that, I really wanted to use that phrase!) So how do you plan a vintage hen do? Well first off you’re going to need a theme…

Vintage Outfit Ideas

The great thing about a vintage hen do is that you can choose from so many fantastic eras. You could go for the swinging 60’s, the roaring 20’s (think the Great Gatsby) or the ever popular pin-up 50’s (just to name a few!) However if you’re going to go with a theme then everyone needs to commit to it, otherwise it’ll fall flat. Because as we say here at Hen Heaven, “go big or go home” and always go full theme. Plus there are plenty of places you can get cheap outfits from (eBay anyone?)

Once you’ve sorted that out all you need to do is hit YouTube for some vintage make-up and hair tutorials (my favourite YouTube channel is Vintagious.)

Vintage Themed Activities

Next, you need to book some fabulous vintage themed activities to do with your girls. One of our most popular activities is Burlesque lessons, so if you fancy knowing seductive moves like the gorgeous Dita Von Teese then this is the perfect time to learn them. If however, dancing isn’t your thing then you could always opt to do something like perfume making  (admittedly not vintage themed but girly nonetheless!) or just relax and have a good old catch up with the girls over a spot of afternoon tea. Complete with vintage china cups and delightful edible goodies for course!

Extras Ideas

Other than carrying on the vintage theme to your wedding, you could also make little hen party goody bags for all your bridesmaids and fill it with retro themed cosmetics.  Or if you want to host a party at home then you could go to town with decorations and food instead.  Either way this is a fantastic theme that’s so versatile and easy to plan for but if you still need some ideas then please take a look at our Pinterest board!
