Why Your Winter Wedding Is Such A Great Idea

Why Your Winter Wedding Is Such A Great Idea

Categories: Wedding Advice For Women

It’s always been generally accepted wisdom that the winter months are ‘off-season’ for weddings. It’s why January and February are the least popular times of year to tie-the-knot. But December bucks the trend. Winter Weddings are becoming a more and more popular option for the savvier brides out there.

If you’ve decided that your big day is going down in the heart of the festive season you’ll be looking forwards to a day that’s extra magical. As well as stepping into marital bliss, you’re celebrating your union in a time of year that already feels that little bit more ‘special’. And as well as that Wintery magic making your big day even bigger, there’s a whole range of other great reasons to celebrate your wedding in Winter.

It’s Cheaper!

Save money

As we’re sure that you’ve realised, a wedding is expensive! And that goes doubly so for the peak months between May and September. On the other hand, there’s less demand for weddings in December and that drives down the costs.

We know that a wedding shouldn’t be all about cutting costs, but if you can get your catering, venue and more while saving yourself a couple of quid? Well all the better! And if you feel like you’re cutting costs, well why not just add on a few accessories, such as more elaborate table centres, to make your special day EXTRA special?

And this leads onto our next point…

You Can Work With Your Ideal Vendors

It’s a story we’ve heard before. You dream of a June wedding, but when it comes to finding availability for your first choice vendors there’s no day that they’re all available on. You shouldn’t have to compromise on getting exactly what you want – but in those peak months it can be impossible to get exactly what you want.

In December, Vendors are much less busy, so there’s a significantly higher chance that you’ll be working with your dream team. And as we mentioned above, there’s a good chance they’ll be giving you a better rate.

Winter Theming is Jaw-dropping

Winter Theming

When planning a wedding there can often be huge amount of furrowed brows and umm-ing and ahh-ing as you try and pick a theme. It can be tough when there’s so many out there! Whether it’s as simple as a colour palette or you’re going full out there’s still a lot to choose from.

But in winter you already have a range of incredible theming on your doorstep.

By tying in with the season there’s so many amazing things that you can do. By transforming your wedding into a Winter Wonderland you can incorporate holiday lights, snowflakes, frosted pinecones and more.

And the Food is Just as Good…

Mulled Wine

Winter weddings give a great excuse for some real comfort food. Think hearty dishes like lasagnes or winter soups. These winter warmers given a luxury twist are likely to always go down well.

Or you can go all out and embrace the Christmas side of things with mince pies and a turkey carvery with all the trimmings.

Oh, and of course – plenty of delicious mulled wine.

Everything Looks Better in the Snow

If you thought that waking up as a child was the happiest you’d be to see the world covered in snow outside your window – it’s got nothing on a winter wedding! A stately home or church looks extra amazing when it’s covered in a crisp layer of snow.

And everything looking better in the snow continues to your dress!

A winter wedding is a great excuse to go all out and look like you’re straight out of a fairy-tale. And a winter-wedding coat makes for a fantastic accessory if you’re worried about getting chilly!

And There Are So Many Opportunities To Make Your Day Unique

Sometimes a great wedding is built on little touches. They can be the things that people remember. And a winter wedding gives you a great excuse to come up with plenty of them!

Why not have your bridesmaids carry pine cone bouquets? Or Give the groomsmen bobble hats that fit into your colour scheme?

One of the most creative things we’ve seen is incorporating a Christmas market into the reception. Especially if you’re outside – stalls that are outside serving roast chestnuts and bratwurst and (of course) mulled wine do a great job of getting everyone into the mood for an incredible winter wedding!
