Madrid hen do guide

What to expect in Madrid? Well, this is Spain’s headiest city, where the revellers stay out late and life is seized with both hands. So you and the girls can expect passionate nights and days where you’ll fall in love with the city’s fiery charm.

At the centre of it all is Plaza Mayor where everything you need for a night of revelry. The offshoot streets are full to the brim with restaurants and cafe where you can choose from a simple meal of street food or go full-on upscale in some of Madrid's celebrity haunts with five-star service. Truly an option for a Madrid hen party not watching the wallet and wanting something extra special. Hidden around the corners are the nightclubs of Madrid that don't start pumping until the early hours. This city doesn't ever sleep and you will be part of that on your hen weekend.

Madrid is a culture vulture's paradise and you will honestly not have enough time to go and see everything that is on offer for visitors. If your group are art fanatics then your ears will prick up to hear that the city is home to what is known as the Golden Triangle of Art! These three museums, Prado, Reina Sofis and Thyssen-Bornemisza are home to some of the biggest artists to ever live and the Prado especially should be on all art lovers bucket lists!

Our packages below could see you learning the moves to transform into a Flamenco dancer, or exploring the rich tapas culture of Madrid. Whatever your hen party style, our team of expert party planners will always recommend Madrid to girls who love the sun, sangria and want to experience everything that one of Spain’s most amazing city’s has to offer.

Great if you are looking for

  • Capital of the Spanish speaking world!
  • Traditional Spain mixed with the modern.
  • Flamenco dinner, paella and wine tasting. Mmm.

Getting around

After London, Madrid has Europe’s biggest transit system and we’d suggest it’s how you and the girls get around. Buses and subways use the same system, so tickets work on each, which keeps it simpler. Ticket machines are in both Spanish and English, as are announcements, making it that little bit easier for you to work out the new system.

If you are looking for a more personalised travel then getting a taxi will whisk you through the streets on time. You can do this by flagging them down on the street of calling a local firm. If you have a specific place you need to get to on your weekend schedule then you can also book the transfers through Hen Heaven which takes the stress out of getting anywhere on your hen do.

Tips and ideas

With that in mind it’s worth learning a few phrases to get you through the days and nights and picking up a phrasebook or downloading an app before you depart is a good idea.

Madrid has tons to offer girls on an abroad hen party. If you’re a group of culture vultures it’s worth exploring historic Madrid, the city is proudly the home of royalty in Spain and this can be seen in buildings such as the Royal Palace.

For a real taste of Spanish culture why not add one of our paella cooking experiences to your quote where you’ll learn how to cook up Madrid’s favourite dish.

Nightlife

The people of Madrid are known to other Spaniards as ‘gatos’ or cats due to their custom of staying out late every night. A usual Spanish night out will see you travelling from bar to bar, club to club and sometimes not even getting home until the sun starts to rise. And to make the most of your Madrid hen party we suggest you take after the locals!

Why not start your night off with a tapas dinner before bar crawling and heading to a nightclub until the early hours? Our party planners are destination experts, and this means that they know exactly the venues to send you to for your hen party style.

Unlike many other European capitals, English isn’t always widely spoken – although this is something that’s changing with the younger generations.
