Nottingham is affectionately known as the ‘Queen of the Midlands’ and it’s the queen when it comes to hen party nightlife. Famously it’s a haven for girls looking for a great night out. There’s a huge choice of bars, clubs and restaurants that are able to suit all types of hen parties.
A good place to start out is the nocturnal playground of Lace Market, it’s where you’ll find the trendiest bars. Around the market square there are bars and clubs of all types. Slightly further out of the city centre there’s vibrant areas such as Sneinton which are packed with pubs full of character, ideal for when you’re looking for a change of pace.
Nottingham is affectionately known as the Queen of the Midlands, and it’s certainly the queen when it comes to choice for a hen party.
The cobbled streets, constant mentions of Robin Hood and the plethora of tours and historic buildings are perfect for any hen party who loves a bit of culture. Nottingham’s a historic city and you’d be missing out if you didn’t at least spend some of your hen party exploring this side of things. The City of Caves is in particular an unmissable highlight of a stay in Nottingham.
However if that’s given you the idea that there’s anything old fashioned about Nottingham, you couldn’t be further from the truth. Nottingham’s got a ton of style and sophistication and it’s increasingly becoming one of the trendiest places around. That blend of old and new has transformed the city into the kind of place where you’ve got proper pubs that serve ale, ale and ale nestled alongside cocktail bars designed with being the ultimate in cool.
Robin Hood, Sherwood Forest and being the birthplace of your favourite chemist – Boots.
Nottingham stands out in history for one major thing… or shall we say, man: Robin Hood. The legend that took from the rich and gave to the poor is said to have lived in Sherwood Forest and on your travels through the city, expect to see a few references to him. Today, Nottingham is a fast-moving bustling city that loves its music, with many revellers making the trip to the famous Rock City every week.
Nottingham’s bus service is actually one of the best in the country, and where we’d usually recommend you’re better off with a taxi or using your own legs – if you’re on a Nottingham hen party it can sometimes be worth hopping on!
But when it comes to exploring the city centre it has to be done by foot. Many of the historic streets are entirely pedestrianised and the best way to experience Nottingham’s blend of old and new is by getting up close.
